How we began?

Oportunidad Educativa began in Córdoba during the economic crisis of 2001. The horrible economic situation effected all sectors of the society but above all the most poor.

Department of Psychopedagogy in the Ipem 18 school. It was started in 2004 by volunteers of the Oportunidad Educativa program along side the educational community of the school.

 
The students of the Ipem 18 school, which is located in the northern part of the city and surrounded by poor neighborhoods, was one of the first areas to feel the effects of the crisis. These effects include, unemployment, increase in poverty, chidren dropping out of school, etc. The teachers began to band together to look for help.

This is how “Oportunidad Educativa” began. It contines to grow with time and today is an scholarship program whose objective is to help the chosen students to have a better education, eliminating the common obstacles that they face such as lack of money and food. The program encourages values such as intercultural relations, responsability, desire to better yourself, and how to realize what you excel at in order to reach your dreams.

Today Oportunidad Educativa has 24 scholarship students and hopes to help 20 more in 2010.
